This is the final blog of the year and goes to Mr. McArdle. I enjoyed your class very much and learned a lot of information that will help through the rest of college and life. This was my most challenging class this year and was a great learning experience. Thank you for all your time and help and a great second semester!

May 3- Blog 29

The year has finally come to an end and was by far the fastest school year that I remember. Looking back on the year I learned a lot and really enjoyed my freshman year. I made a lot of new friends and made a lot of fun memories. Im going to miss this year and everything that I was apart of. I am even going to miss Laffolette!

April 19- Blog 28

Last weekend I visited my best friend who goes to Depauw University. It was a lot of fun except when my roommate and I were leaving I didn't realize I didn't have my iPhone until we were halfway home. It has been a long week not having my phone. I didn't realize how much I actually used and relied on it every day. Communication with my family and friends is a lot more difficult and takes a lot of time. I also rely on my phone to set reminders, alarms, check date and time, and look up business places around the area. Without all of these features this week has been very difficult. I can not wait until this week is over so I can finally get my life back on track!

April 19- Blog 27

One subject that always interests and blows my mind is the universe and how big stars are compared to us. It is so big that I can't even imagine it. It also just makes me wonder that if we are such a small planet in a small universe, what else is out there with life on them, and how big and populated it could be? There could be so much out there that we will never find out. Here is a video that might help picture how big stars and space is and the possibilities that may be out there.

April 19- Blog 26

I can not wait until summer so I can finally relax and not have to worry about a thing. I am working at Culver Marina, so I can finally earn more money and save up for next year. Also this summer I am moving on a golf course, so hopefully I can increase my game because as of now I am awful. The golf course also provides a basketball court, tennis court, and swimming pool. My family is also getting a hot tub for the first time, which I am very excited about. This summer already sounds very promising and hopefully it goes by really slow!

April 19- Blog 25

I have always loved going to the zoo and my favorite part was seeing the lions. Every time I have gone they have been really close to the glass and they just amaze me. But seeing this video makes me not want to stand to close to the glass anymore, because it could be my last time.

April 7- Blog 24

It feels good being back home and getting to see the whole family for Easter! This weekend was much needed and not having to worry about school work. But its already going fast and I will be back to Ball State before I know it. I hope the rest of the year goes this fast so I can finally start summer!

April 2- Blog 23

This coming weekend is Easter weekend and I am very happy I get to go home. I haven't been home or seen my family for what seems like a whole year. I didn't get to see them over spring break and have been busy every weekend since. So this weekend is my chance to get away from all my school work, spend time with my family, and celebrate Easter! Then hopefully when I come back the next three weeks of school go by fast and I can finally enjoy summer!

March 28- Blog 22

This week is very busy for me. I feel like I am constantly on the move or studying. I have three tests this week, two quizzes, an english paper due saturday, and another test next wednesday. I don't know how teachers do it but it is almost as if they decide to make everything due at the same time. I can't wait till summer is hear because a three month break is exactly what I need!

March 28- Blog 21

When I watched the Thank you for Smoking video I really liked it and after it was over I felt like anything was possible and persuadable. Im really interested in this creating this website with my group and I am excited to see what it will look like when were done. I hope everything goes smoothly and we get a good grade on it, and also convince the class that oil is good!

Blog 20- Facebook and Twitter

I love Facebook and Twitter, whenever I am bored its always the place to go to. It also funny to see what everyone is doing and what they are up to. But ever since college I learned that you really need to watch what you post and comment about. When applying for jobs many of the companies or organizations look at your Facebook and Twitter accounts and they can get a feel about who you really are personally. Just a few bad pictures, statuses, or comments could affect if you get a job or not. So is it even worth having these social accounts if they might come between a career?

Blog 19- End of the Year

Its coming to the end of the year and I am still counting down the days. But the more I think about it the longer the week goes by. Im so excited for summer it is already hard to stay concentrated on homework and assignments. I hope I can pull through and do better than last semester!

March 16- Blog 18

While I was in high school I never thought I would miss sports as much as I do now. I would always dread practice after school and couldn't wait till the season ended. But now I would do anything just to play in another game and even have a practice. In college I still participate in inermerals but its not the same and definitely not as competitive.  I feel like if I could go back I would change a lot of things, and I would be a lot better athlete than I am today. I would train a lot more and give every play, game, and practice everything I had. But time flys and soon Im going to be graduated, finding a job, and living on my own. I wish I could just be a kid forever.

March 14- Blog 17

As spring break flew by we freshman now only have eight more weeks of school left until summer. I have a feeling these eight weeks are going to go by really slow now that I am already counting down, but hopefully they go by just as fast as this whole year did. Before we know it summer will be here, and then we will be coming back next fall as sophomores. My college experience has been great so far but Im already going to miss my freshman year, the dorms, my neighbors, and even LaFollette food!

February 29- Blog 16 (Success)

Since this is the point in the month where midterms start and spring break is a couple days away, I am rushing to get all my assignments done, papers written, tests studied for, and a lot more. Im working so hard that it all just seems impossible. But after viewing this video for the first time and listening to Eric Thomas speak about success and how bad do you want it, it got my attention right away and every time I watch it, it inspirers me just as much as the first time. I want to do better, do more than what is asked, and most of all succeed. This video is just one step that can and may inspire you just as it did to me.

February 29- Blog 15

This is the point in the week when I am cramming in all my homework and barley getting any sleep. I honestly feel like I work and work and at the end of the day I don't have enough time. I don't get how I can see some Ball State students play video games all day, everyday and still maintain good grades and not spend near as much time studying or doing homework. Maybe I am just one of the slowest learners ever, but I hope I can get my grades up more and they will end up just as good as last semester.

February 23- Blog 14

Today I had my meeting with Professor McArdle and I feel like I got a lot of new ideas on my paper. I have a lot more directions I can research and topics I can discuss. It was very helpful and but now the hard part is getting myself to sit down and work on it. I am planning on doing a lot of it tonight and hopefully only have to make a few more changes next week and be finished. Goodluck everyone.

February 22- Blog 13

Today I was looking and surfing Ball State's website and I typed in my name in the people directory. It was then I saw another Chad Miller. His full name is Chadrick Miller. Then it finally made sense to me thats why my email starts out as crmiller2. I thought I got lucky with the number 2 especially because it is my favorite number. But now I realize that this whole time I was actually just the second Chad Miller attending Ball State. But it also makes since that the other Chad is number one because he has a lot cooler name: Chadrick!

Tuesday- February 14th
On Tuesday we started out class by getting into our peer review groups and discussing each others papers with one another. Once everyone was done making comments on each others papers, our National Gaze essays were handed back. Then we were told to highlight every sentence that had an in-text citation, or any sentence that wasn't in our own words. This was to show that our papers should not just be facts and information but have a balanced ratio between our own voice and the facts. If you just put facts in the paper there would be no point in writing the paper in the first place. The last ten minutes of class was then used to  work on our Annotated Bibliographies.

Thursday- February 16th
On thursday we went over Kendra's, Spencer's, Allyssa's, and Ariel's Annotated Bibliographies for the Intensive Review session. We commented on everyones papers the whole class period and everyone had good advice each other. Also it helped give ideas, strategies, and pointers for others that are still working and revising their Annotated Bibliographies.

February 17- Blog 12

I can't believe it is already midterms of the second semester of my freshman year. Its going to be over before I know it. I am nervous to be a sophomore because I still don't know what I want to do when I get out of college or what my official major is going to be. With this year coming to an end it worries me that I am running out of time and I still don't have a major chosen. Hopefully it will come to me soon and I can stick with it and benefit from the rest of my college experience.

February 14- Blog 11

Today we got back our National Gaze essays and I am very proud of my grade. But I still have a lot to learn and work on. I especially realized that my voice was not as balanced compared to my facts and sources. I definitely need to work on putting more of my knowledge, and opinion in my essays. I hope I can do just as well on the annotated bibliography.

February 9- Blog 10

So far this semester has been very difficult. Last semester it took me a while to get into the groove of college life. This semester I was expecting it to be a lot easier because I knew what to expect, but it has been the exact opposite. So far my classes demand a lot more work, time, and effort. I just need to work on my time management skills and get more sleep!!

February 9- Blog 9

Today in class we further discussed annotated bibliographies, and I have a good idea of what my topic should be. But Im not ready to start working on a new project especially after how much time and effort the last assignment took. This assignment though I want to work ahead and not fall behind.

February 2- Blog 8

Today in class Professor McArdle pushed the due date of our paper to Thursday, which is very helpful. Also during the class time we got to work on our papers I found a website with what seems like an unlimited amount of information about my country, specifically about tourism.  Now my main problem is to start putting the information in words, instead of procrastinating till the last minute.

February 1- Blog 7

Yesterday in class my paper was discussed in the intensive review, and I feel I gained a lot of helpful information from the class and Professor McArdle. I have a lot of new ideas and information that will benefit and hopefully piece together a solid paper. I am planning on finishing my paper this week so I don't have to worry about it anymore. January 27- Blog 6 Spring Break

I am already look forward and needing a spring break. So far this semester has been a lot of hard work and effort, so spring break will be my reward. This spring break I am going to South Carolina and renting a house on Myrtle Beach, with ten of my Fraternity brothers. We all are member of the Fraternity of Sigma Phi Epsilon and all looking forward to having a great time. Spring break can't come soon enough!

January 27- Blog 5 Paper

So far I think I have a good start to my paper but I still have a lot to work on. I need to put in sources, more information, and I think the most trouble I will have in the introduction and conclusion. I am planning on getting a great start and then on class tuesday get many god ideas from my intensive review. I just can't wait till this paper is done.

January 20- Blog 4

I started out writing my paper thursday night and actually had trouble finding website that I previously found during class. So far I only have some key facts about my country Sri Lanka. I need to find more information about the tourism and cultures which would increase the length of my paper a great deal. I hope to get a lot further tonight and work on it some more Saturday!

January 19- Blog 3

Today we went to the library and learned how to use the library website and all the tools, sources, and help it provides us. It was very helpful and there are many places I can look for information about my country. My first choice for my third world country was Sri Lanka but I was going to do further research in the library and see if there were better choices, and see if I can pick a better country with more information. Im anxious to get started writing because our first rough draft is due by Saturday and its a bit overwhelming.

January 15- Blog 2

I don't know much about third world countries but I have a couple in mind. I am interested for this project because I think it would be a good opportunity to learn more about these countries, so if the time comes maybe I can visit one in the future. It will help me pick and choose a country that interests me and I will learn the best reasons and opportunities the countries provide.

January 12- Blog 1

For the first week of classes I am always nervous and it didn't help when I was tardy on the first day and had to knock to get in. It got worse when I walked in not knowing the section number of the class and I thought I was in the wrong class so I walked out. Then looking at my schedule it was the right class so I had to knock again and interrupt the class for the second time. It was really embarrassing. At first the class seemed confusing but now I am understanding more what the class is about and the material we will be learning.
